The Naturalista Siciliano (Sicilian Naturalist) was first published in October 1881; the creator, director and financier was Enrico Ragusa.
In 1896 the magazine became the official organ of the Society of Sicilian Naturalists.
The first series was printed from 1881 to 1895; the second, more discontinuously, between 1896 and 1899 and then again from 1904 to 1932; the third series appeared only between 1946 and 1948. Since 1977, after the reconstitution of the Sicilian Society of Natural Sciences, the magazine has been printed without interruption under the direction of Bruno Massa.
